Correction Policy

Corrections Policy

At Startup News India, ( www.startupnewsindia.in ) accuracy, transparency, and accountability are at the core of our journalistic values. We are committed to delivering reliable, factual, and unbiased information to our readers about the Indian startup ecosystem. Despite our best efforts to ensure the highest editorial standards, errors may occasionally occur. This Corrections Policy outlines our commitment to identifying, correcting, and communicating such errors promptly and responsibly.

1. Commitment to Accuracy

Our editorial team strives to verify all facts, figures, quotes, and data before publication. Every article undergoes multiple stages of fact-checking, source verification, and editorial review. However, if inaccuracies or misleading details are identified—whether reported by readers, sources, or our internal team—we take corrective action without delay.

We firmly believe that maintaining trust with our audience is more important than maintaining the appearance of infallibility. Accuracy is a continuous process, and we view corrections as an integral part of responsible journalism.

2. Identifying and Reporting Errors

Readers, contributors, and stakeholders are encouraged to alert us to any errors or omissions in our content. If you notice a factual inaccuracy, typographical mistake, misleading headline, or misrepresentation, please contact us via:

📧 Email: corrections@startupnewsindia.in
📍 Subject line: Correction Request – [Article Title]

When submitting a correction request, please include:

  • The title and publication date of the article
  • The URL or link to the content in question
  • A clear explanation of the error, along with supporting evidence or sources (if available)

Our editorial team will acknowledge your message within 48 hours and initiate a review.

3. Correction Review Process

Once an error is brought to our attention, our editorial team follows a structured process:

  1. Verification: The concerned editor or reporter reviews the claim using reliable primary sources and evidence.
  2. Evaluation: If the error is confirmed, the editorial team decides the appropriate corrective measure (update, clarification, or retraction).
  3. Correction: A correction note is appended to the article, explaining the nature of the change made.
  4. Notification: Significant factual corrections are publicly noted to ensure transparency.

Our goal is to correct factual errors within 72 hours of confirmation.

4. Types of Corrections

We distinguish between different forms of editorial updates:

  • Minor Corrections: Spelling, grammar, or typographical errors that do not alter the meaning of the article. These are corrected silently without a published note.
  • Substantive Corrections: Factual inaccuracies, incorrect data, or misquotes that affect understanding of the story. These are corrected with a formal Correction Note at the end of the article.
  • Clarifications: Used when additional context is required to clarify previously published information.
  • Retractions: Issued only in extreme cases where content is found to be entirely false, unethical, or in violation of our editorial policies. Retracted content is removed but marked transparently with a public statement explaining the reason.

5. Updates and Story Evolution

Some stories evolve over time as new information becomes available, especially in fast-paced industries like startups, funding, and innovation. In such cases, we may update the content to reflect the latest developments. Updates that do not correct an error but add new context are labeled “Updated on [Date]” rather than marked as corrections.

6. Accountability and Transparency

All corrections and updates are handled in a transparent manner. We maintain an internal record of all correction requests and actions taken, ensuring accountability in our editorial process. Our editorial leadership reviews correction trends regularly to identify patterns and strengthen preventive measures.

We also ensure that all our journalists and contributors are trained in ethical reporting, source verification, and responsible editing practices to minimize future errors.
